Lakeview Middle School student brings THC edibles, distributes

UPDATE: More information has been obtained from a Catoosa County Sheriff’s Office report.

School faculty also retrieved a vape pen without a cartridge from the 11-year-old.

The student is a sixth grader at the school.

He told school faculty that he ate some edibles and gave some to his friends.

The bag that contained the edibles was thrown away by the head principal, because he did not know what it was, police said.

The bag stated that it contained cannabis, according to the sheriff’s office.

They said the student was given an ankle monitor and returned to his mother.

CATOOSA COUNTY, Ga. (WDEF) — A Lakeview Middle School student brought edibles to school last Thursday. Officials with Catoosa County Schools say the student gave edible “cereal bars” infused with THC to two other students.

The student said he got the bars from his house.

The 11-year-old faced school discipline and law enforcement was notified.

One of the students who received the edible bars got sick and was taken to a hospital.

Two students were drug tested and tested positive for THC.

Officers took the student into custody and charged him with possession of a controlled substance and possession with intent to distribute, according to officials.

“I know adults may legally purchase ‘edibles’ with Delta 8, 10 or THC,” Superintendent Chance Nix said. “The substances are not meant for children, as clearly stated on the package. If you have edibles in your home, please secure it in a location that cannot be accessed by children. Students who bring edibles to school will be disciplined in compliance with the CCPS Code of Conduct.”
