Dallas Area Rapid Transit and Trinity Railway Express riders are being asked to participate in a survey that will help determine potential improvements to the public transit providers.

The survey is part of a regionwide survey that started last fall, according to a news release from the North Central Texas Council of Governments. The transit survey will start gathering data from DART and TRE riders in early February.

The survey aims to determine how riders are using public transportation and what changes could be made to better accommodate population growth in the region. Survey’s were conducted on the Denton County Transportation Authority, Trinity Metro and Arlington Via in 2022.

“Transit agencies can use this data to offer service enhancements to their customers both now and in the future,” NCTCOG Senior Program Manager Arash Mirzaei said in the release.

Bus riders will be handed questionnaire cards by surveyors wearing blue vests, while rail line passengers will be asked questions when they get off the train.

The survey will include questions about riders’ current trip and their socioeconomic characteristics. The survey is voluntary and confidential, according to the release.
