Diego Sanchez and Marvin Vettori are among some names in the mixed martial arts (MMA) space who are speaking out against Sam Smith’s controversial Grammy performance. This week, Smith performed his song, “Unholy,” dressed as the devil along with red lights, fire, and imitating a satanic ritual.

Smith performed the song alongside German-born singer Kim Petras. Petras was performing their part of the song from inside a cage. The performance drew a lot of criticism shortly after, being labeled “satanic” and “demonic” by many.

Former UFC star Diego Sanchez took to social media to voice his displeasure with the performance. Sanchez not only called out the performance, but the pharmaceutical company Phizer, who sponsored the event. Here’s what he had to say:

“End times sponsored by phizer Jesus is real call on his holy name our days are short! Don’t miss the rapture the age of the spirit of AI will not be blessed”

Sanchez also took a shot at the Phizer name, suggesting the name of the company itself has satanic and demonic ties.

“Get this shit: Pfizer name backwards is Rezifp- God of the Plague and Underworld wearing a tall pointed Goats Head”

Former UFC middleweight title challenger Marvin Vettori also commented on the performance, calling it “nasty.” He faced some backlash for his comments, being labeled a “conspiracy theorist.”

Another notable MMA star, Jake Shields, a former Strikeforce champion who is no stranger to controversy himself, also offered his thoughts on the performance. Shields took a dig at Smith himself, saying, if he were Satan, he’d be embarrassed to have Smith worshiping him.
