Spring break is often a time for athletes to get away before the grueling stretch of the spring sports season begins. Often times they go and relax with their families and friends to get away for a week. Crawfordsville baseball has a little different thought process than most as for nearly the last 20 years the Athenians have used the week off from school to travel down south and play in tournaments to prepare themselves for the upcoming season.

Members of the Crawfordsville Board of Public Works & Safety opened bids Wednesday from three area companies vying for paving work in the city. Bids were received from DC Construction Services of Pendleton in the total amount of $872,462; Midwest Paving of Noblesville in the total amount of $926,226; and Rieth-Riley Construction of Lafayette in the total amount of $996,363. All the bids were tabled for review.

Coming off a 16-6 season and shattering nearly ever offensive record in the books, Southmont softball is once again geared up to begin its 2023 campaign. In doing so the Mounties will look to replace one of the best players to ever put on a Mountie uniform in Macie Shirk, as well as the leadership of Taylor Grino, Elizabeth Conkright, and Hanna Nichols from a year ago. However the Mounties do return six starters from last year’s team as they’ll re-tool.
