An upcoming bond vote in Norman for more than $350 million could change the way Norman Public Schools looks.The bond overlaps with the previous bond, but NPS told KOCO 5 that their construction for the 2019 bond is either done or underway. If passed, the new bond could break ground in May."This bond will then allow us to smoothly transition from the construction of the 2019 bond into the construction of the 2023 bond. It’s an exciting opportunity for our community. Over 350 million dollars of investment back into our students here at Norman Public Schools," said Justin Milner, Norman associate superintendent.They said the bond could affect every school in Norman will be over a span of 10 years."There are some communities that grow at a rate that allows you to raise 300 million dollars in three to five years. In the community of Norman, it would take us 10 years to achieve that goal," Milner said.Improving and growing the Oklahoma Aviation Academy will be a big part of the bond."We hope to grow this program to five to 600 students to serve the Norman community. With the ability through the bond, we’ll be able to build a facility that will accommodate their needs," Milner said.KOCO 5 spoke with one parent who said she’s voting yes on the bond."Most parents I talked to are really excited about it.
