Perry Mayor John Andorf, left, and Perry School Board President Linda Andorf, center, were presented with the 2022 Rotary Club Civil Servant of the Year Monday night by Rotary Club President Dirk Cavanaugh.

The Perry Rotary Club named John and Linda Andorf as the joint recipients of its Civil Servant of the Year Award for 2022 at a ceremony Monday night at the Perry City Council meeting.

The Andorfs have served the community in numerous roles. John Andorf is the mayor of Perry. As a member of the Lions Club, he facilitates the Kidsight program. He also serves on the board of directors of the Racoon Valley Pet Rescue and is responsible for collecting donations from businesses around town.

Linda Andorf is president of the Perry Community School District Board of Education. She also sits on the board of the Perry School Foundation and is treasurer of the Dallas County Area Retired School Personal Association. She is the past president of the Perry Piece Makers Quilt Club.

The Andorfs are both involved in the Lions and Optimist clubs’ flag project of putting out American flags on holidays. They coordinate the annual Toys for Tots program, which provides Christmas gifts to needy children throughout the area. In addition, they assist with the annual Community Christmas Day Dinner.

The Andorfs were nominated by Linda Kaufman and Tom Lipovac, who said, “Linda and John demonstrate a commitment to service and a devotion to the town of Perry, Iowa, a place where culture and community thrive.”

In presenting the award to the Andorfs, Rotary President Dirk Cavanaugh said, “This couple is very deserving of our award. They truly exemplify the Rotary motto of ‘Service above Self.'”

For many years, the Perry Rotary Club has honored a deserving individual as the Civil Servant of the Year. Individuals who work or volunteer in the following areas are eligible for the award: law enforcement, fire department, ambulance service, emergency services, health care, human services and other closely related areas.
