Casualty spoilers follow.

Casualty star George Rainsford has opened up about a couple of specific plot points regarding his character, Ethan Hardy, and his exit from the soap.

Rainsford exited the soap on February 4 after nine years on the show. Ethan left the ED behind after having coming to a realisation about his relationship with his son, Bodhi.

Ethan sacrificed his job and the Jac Naylor Award he was due to receive in order to play a more active part in Bodhi's life. But his exit brought up a few questions from fans, including a costume Easter egg and issues surrounding the logistics of Ethan's departure.

Now, Rainsford has addressed those concerns in a tweet.

"Thanks for all your messages. Honestly overwhelmed. In answer to few Qs:1. Yes was same scarf for both 1st ED entrance 2014 & final scene 2023. Ethan doesn’t shop much," Rainsford wrote.

"2. Didn’t need notice period as already had annual leave in place for possible Jac Naylor Award (so there!)."

One fan then replied, jokingly stating that it "would be nice" if one member of staff worked their notice at Holby City. Rainsford tweeted back: "Wait until you find out the waiting times are less in Holby."

Rainsford spoke to Digital Spy about his departure from the show and opened up about the emotions he felt while wrapping up his era on Casualty.

"I was saying goodbye and Ethan was saying goodbye to people in the scenes because it was the last thing I'd ever do with him and obviously people like Will [Beck] have been there since the start.

"Then there were leaving parties and all that. But now, it's kind of coming in again this week because the press is all starting to come out about my last episode. It has been strange."

Casualty airs on Saturdays on BBC One and streams on BBC iPlayer.
