Buncombe County has expressed interest in the property.
A recommendation was made for the board to be willing to meet with county leaders to discuss the facility.
A date for the meeting was not set, and no action was taken.
Ideas for the building have included using it for pre-school classes, housing and a community space for staff.
The Asheville City School Board of Education voted to close the school in December 2021 because of maintenance needs and financial challenges.
