The Grand Ronde Tribe opened an opioid treatment clinic in Portland near Southeast 82nd Avenue and Powell Boulevard on Monday.
It's open to any tribal member, other natives, and the community at large.
It's their second Great Circle Recovery location. The first one opened in Salem in the spring of 2021.
They say since then, they've served more than 500 patients.
They hope to serve 300 at the Portland location.
The clinic offers medication-assisted treatment, prescribing an FDA-approved drug to curb cravings and relieve withdrawal symptoms.
They also offer some wraparound services to tend to the mental, emotional and spiritual components of recovery.
"When people become addicted, there's a lot of shame and guilt and lack of hope that they can find services or be saved, and I can tell you that's not true. Our program saves lives, and we've seen it happen down in Salem at Great Circle Recovery, and we know that we have a program that helps people," said Kelly Rowe, executive director of Health Services at The Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde.
The clinic says it wants to help people reconnect with their values, with the goal of long-term recovery.
