A soil investigation will take place at the Four Mile Creek Bridge near the Haihai Street and Kīlauea Avenue intersection in Hilo on March 22 and 23 from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm. Flaggers will be present to control traffic flow while crossing the bridge. The road will remain open in both directions during investigative hours. However, traffic delays are expected, said the Hawaiʻi County Department of Public Works.

A Hilo woman is facing several class A felony drug charges after she was reportedly found with methamphetamine, oxycodone and heroin earlier this month. Thirty-three-year-old Julissa Herrera was charged with first-degree attempted promotion of a dangerous drug, second-degree promotion of a dangerous drug, four counts of third-degree posession of a dangerous drug and prohibited acts related to drug paraphernalia. Charges stem from an incident on March 10 where the indictment indicates she attempted to distribute over 1/8 ounce or more of methamphetamine.

The Hilo Education Arts Repertory Theatre is presenting “The Prom,” the outrageous and heart-warming musical comedy that was the recipient of seven Tony Award nominations. “The Prom” will run through April 2 at the East Hawaiʻi Cultural Center in Hilo.
