To mark National Gun Violence Survivors Week, a large crowd gathered in Flatbush to honor local survivors of gun violence.
Organizers say that by early February, more people are killed by guns in the United States than any other nation faces in an entire year.
The event, hosted by the 67th Precinct Council, Everytown for Gun Safety, and the Clergy for Safe Cities, aims to highlight those who have survived gun violence incidents while also recognizing those that we have lost and the families they left behind.
Attorney General Letitia James and Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez both joined Brooklyn residents at the event to help spread the message.
The gathering comes just a few hours after a 19-year-old boy and 17-year-old girl were shot at a housing project in Williamsburg.
National Gun Violence Survivors Week wraps up on Tuesday, and this is the fifth year the movement is being recognized on a national level.
