Officers secured and searched a bus Monday afternoon, Feb. 6, after reports of a student in possession of a weapon. But no weapon was found, officials said.

Jackson County Public Schools said in a Facebook post that Smoky Mountain High School and Fairview School administrators received a report that a student on Bus 33 had a weapon and immediately contacted the district office.

"Multiple law enforcement officers were dispatched to secure the bus and ensure no one was in danger," the Facebook post said. "After a thorough search, no weapons were found and the bus was allowed to complete its route."

No other details were released.
