Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni has led the Eagles to Super Bowl LVII, preparing his team to take on the Kansas City Chiefs for a chance to win the second Vince Lombardi Trophy in franchise history.

Sirianni compiled a 14-3 regular season record and an NFC championship in his second season on the job. However, he has drawn some detractors who have not been impressed by his celebrations and the overall job he has done with the team.

On last Thursday’s Good Morning Football episode on the NFL Network, Giants safety Julian Love said that the team was so good that Sirianni did not make an impact on the team’s success.

[Sirianni] is a guy who really is doing a good job because he’s not getting in the way of his team. He has an experienced roster from top to bottom, offense, defense .... He’s in for a free ride right now. You guys can coach this team.”

Love was also critical of the celebration Sirianni did during the game, looking into the television camera and nodding his head up and down. Sirianni responded to Love’s comments, stating it takes having a roster capable of winning and utilizing the players to the best of their capabilities.

“As far as that goes, the secret to good coaching is to get good players, put them in good positions to succeed, and help them get better,” Sirianni said. “That’s what the secret of good coaching is. I think a lot has been made about when I looked into the camera and did that. But to me, the camera got right in my face. We went up 21-0, and we were having fun. I’m not going to be somebody who I’m not. I’m going to have fun on the sideline, and I’m going to yell and scream on the sideline.”

Sirianni added that it was important to be authentic because if his players saw a difference in his attitude or personality, it could change his relationship with them.

“It works for different people in many different ways. That’s just who I am. If I’m truly trying to build relationships with people and truly living by our core value of connecting, then I can’t be somebody I’m not because I can’t do that. I’m with these guys more than my family, and they’ll seek that out.”

Sirianni also said that he would not stop having fun when he gets the chance to do so, pointing to the long hours and hard work that comes with being an NFL coach.

“I don’t apologize for having fun,” Sirianni said. “This is too hard not to have fun, and I do this because I love it. I chose this profession because I love it. It is a little bit blown out of proportion with all of those things. I loved playing football, and I love coaching it. I’m not going to hide my emotions at any point.”
