GRAFTON — Alston W. “Al” Tucker, 85, of Grafton, passed away on Monday, January 30, 2023, at his home.
He was born in Grafton on June 24, 1937, son of Leo V. Tucker and Ruth McDaniel Tucker.
Al is survived by his loving wife, JoAnn Boyce Tucker, who he married on October 11, 1963, spending 59 years together.
He was blessed to have many siblings of whom there are three remaining: Kenneth T., California; Thomas T., Alabama; Jane Davis, Salem. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Patricia; brother-in-law, Robert; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was proceeded in death by his sisters Mary Stewart, Maxine Romano, Janice Hamilton, and Doris Ann Tucker; brothers Donald Tucker (killed in the Korean War,) Edward Tucker, Paul Tucker, and Richard Tucker.
Al graduated from Grafton High School in 1956. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force. Al retired from Georgia Pacific, after 40 years of service.
Al liked being around people and especially talking and visiting with friends and family. He was a very religious person, and he and his wife attended church regularly until his decline. Al was also an avid sports fan.
Per his wishes, Al’s body was donated for research. He will be interred at the West Virginia National Cemetery at a later date.
