LeBron James Shares His Thoughts On The Lakers Not Landing Kyrie Irving

LeBron James shared his thoughts (with ESPN's Michael Wilbon) on the Los Angeles Lakers not landing Kyrie Irving in a trade with the Brooklyn Nets.

On Sunday afternoon, Kyrie Irving was traded from the Brooklyn Nets to the Dallas Mavericks in a blockbuster deal (Shams Charania of The Athletic was the first to report).

The Los Angeles Lakers were a team that was linked to Irving for many reasons.

One of them was the fact that LeBron James and Irving played three seasons together on the Cleveland Cavaliers and won the 2016 NBA Championship.

However, the Lakers did not land Irving, and they are currently 25-29 in 54 games (which has them as the 13th seed in the Western Conference).

On Monday, an interview aired of James speaking to ESPN's Michael Wilbon

The four-time NBA Champion is only 36 points away from passing Kareem-Abdul Jabbar on the all-time scoring list.

During the sit down with Wilbon, James was asked about the Lakers not landing Irving.

James: "I can't sit here and say I'm not disappointed on not being able to land such a talent."

That said, James said he has now moved on and is focused on the current group.

James: "My focus has shifted back to where it should be, and that's this club now and what we have in the locker room."

The Lakers will play their next game on Tuesday evening when they host the Oklahoma City Thunder in California.

James is averaging 30.0 points, 8.5 rebounds and 7.1 assists per contest in 43 games (while shooting 50.5% from the field).

Therefore, he will more than likely break the scoring record in one of the next two games (after the Thunder, the Lakers will play the Milwaukee Bucks on Thursday night).
