OGDEN — A man has been arrested after police say he fired four shots at another vehicle, injuring three people.

Marcellino Librado Escobedo McCain, 19, was arrested Jan. 26 for investigation of four counts of discharging a firearm.

Police responded about 1:40 a.m. on Jan. 22 to a report of shots fired at 25th Street and Lincoln Avenue, according to a police booking affidavit. The incident allegedly occurred in a parking lot behind a business.

Police interviewed two of the people who had been shot while they were being treated at McKay-Dee Hospital, the affidavigt states, adding one was hit in the stomach and the other in the head. The injured people told officers that someone in an SUV pulled into the area and began firing a gun at them.

Police later learned that a third victim was treated for a gunshot wound to his lip, the affidavit says.

The SUV, later determined to be a Toyota 4Runner, was located about an hour later behind 262 Patterson Ave., a residence where detectives recently served a warrant for firearms and narcotics, according to the arrest report.

In that case, McCain has already been charged with two felonies and two misdemeanors related to possession or distribution of weapons or drugs.

Police said they found bullet casings in the alleyway and backyard of the home, and they spoke with McCain, who was home at the time. According to the affidavit, he told police the 4Runner belonged to someone else.

McCain agreed to be questioned about the incident. Police say he told them there was an argument and he left after hearing someone else was going to get a gun.

"However, from surveillance footage it was apparent that the 4Runner shot rounds first at (an) Impala," the affidavit states.

Police say they found evidence that McCain had asked someone to remove plates from the 4Runner, though, they had already seized the vehicle.

McCain was booked into the Weber County Jail and is being held without bail.
