Sycamore Pain & Wellness offers primary care services

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Horizon Health is adding the services of a primary care clinic to the Sycamore Pain & Wellness location.

The new addition will contribute to the current services offered which include bone health and wellness, pain management, behavioral health, and weight management.

“Since we established a presence in Terre Haute, it’s been brought to our attention that a need exists for more primary care services in the area,” said Ollie Smith, Horizon Health president & CEO.

A family nurse practitioner, Joy Whitt, will be joining the Sycamore Pain & Wellness location as the primary care provider for the clinic.

“Good health starts with your primary care provider,” said Dr. Thomas Pendergast, Sycamore Pain & Wellness physician. “Joy has been a highly respected provider within our community for years.  We are very fortunate to have her join Sycamore Pain & Wellness. As a member of our holistic team, Joy will provide primary care and have available our collaborative providers in pain management and behavioral health.”

With 20 years of nursing experience, including 10 years as a nurse practitioner, Whitt offers services to patients ages five and above while focusing on preventative care.

“It’s a great opportunity to bring primary care to an existing pain clinic,” Whitt said. “One of the biggest reasons people seek primary care is because of pain. I’m excited for the opportunity to work with the Sycamore team.”

Serving patients in the Terre Haute area since 2005, Whitt’s experience includes primary care, behavioral health, critical care nursing, and long-term nursing care.

Whitt has earned two degrees, a master’s in nursing from Indiana Wesleyan University, and a bachelor’s in nursing from Urbana University in Ohio. Born in Michigan and raised in Ohio, Whitt and her husband, TJ, have a family of four children and enjoy working on their hobby farm in Sullivan County, Indiana in their spare time.

For those interested in making an appointment with Whitt, call the Sycamore Pain & Wellness clinic at (812) 877-3310, or visit online through the Horizon Health website. The new primary care clinic is located inside the Sycamore Pain & Wellness building at 1378 S. State Road 46.
