The first-place Polytechnic varsity boys’ soccer team blanked visiting Palos Verdes Chadwick, 3-0, last Friday as junior Jessie Benitez recorded a pair of goals.
Senior Oliver Moltz produced one goal and one assist, senior James Gomez was credited with a pair of assists, and senior Nathaniel Marko tallied three saves for the Panthers.
Poly routed visiting Providence High of Burbank, 7-1, in a league matchup last Wednesday. Gomez racked up three goals and three assists while Moltz finished with three goals and two assists. Anton Landerer scored once one goal, Jessie Benitez posted a pair of assists, and senior Jonah Goldstein and Marko each had one save.
Poly previously defeated visiting Flintridge Prep in a league game, 3-1, as Gomez tallied one goal and one assist. Junior James Onderdonk and freshman Joe Benitez each had one goal, Moltz was credited with an assist and Marko made three saves.
The Panthers (9-3 overall, 5-0 in league) will visit fourth-place Providence for a league encounter on Friday, Jan. 27, at 3:30 p.m. The Panthers will conclude the regular season next week with a home rematch against Palos Verdes Chadwick on Monday, Jan. 30, followed by a road game at rival Flintridge Prep on Wednesday, Feb. 1.
MARANATHA
The Minutemen collected their fourth consecutive victory after defeating visiting Valley Christian High of Cerritos, 3-1, in an Olympic League game last Friday.
Junior George Peterson registered two goals, senior Jacob Brantingham scored once, and junior goalie Lorenzo Rodriguez made three saves and blocked a penalty kick. Junior Miles Romero tallied two assists and one shot on goal while junior Sam Yakteen had one assist. Senior Jay Lee recorded two shots on target while junior Sawyer Throop finished with one shot on goal.
Maranatha blanked visiting Village Christian High of Sun Valley, 5-0, in a league matchup last Wednesday as Rodriguez posted his eighth shutout of the campaign. Brantingham produced two goals and one assist, Peterson and Lee each registered one goal and one assist, and Throop scored one goal. Romero was credited with an assist, senior Josiah Topalian had two shots on target, and sophomore Aren Tatevossian and freshman Luca Youssefian each had one shot on goal.

FLINTRIDGE PREP
The Wolves routed visiting Providence High of Burbank, 8-0, in a Prep League game last Thursday as senior EQ Willis posted a hat trick.
Senior Henry Brookbanks and freshman Declan Mansbridge each recorded a pair of goals while junior Leo Ferry scored one goal.
Flintridge Prep recently tied visiting Palos Verdes Chadwick, 1-1, in a league matchup as Ferry had one goal.
The Wolves previously lost a league game at rival Pasadena Polytechnic, 3-1, as Willis scored on a penalty kick.
Second-place Flintridge Prep (4-4-3 overall, 1-1-2 in league) will visit third-place Palos Verdes Chadwick for a rematch on Friday, Jan. 27, at 3 p.m. The Wolves will conclude the regular season next week with a pair of league games at Providence High in Burbank on Tuesday, Jan. 31, and against visiting Polytechnic on Wednesday, Feb. 1.
LA SALLE
The Lancers edged visiting Paraclete High of Lancaster, 2-1, in a Camino Real League game last Friday.
Mak Hadziomanovic recorded a pair of goals while Mario Cassina and Caden Brown were each credited with an assist.
La Salle tied host St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy in Downey, 2-2, in a league game last Wednesday as Hadziomanovic scored a pair of goals. Goalie Julian Gomez made three saves while Brown and Cassina each had one assist.
The Lancers recently routed Verbum Dei High of Los Angeles in a league matchup, 6-1. Cassina tallied a pair of goals while Cabral Corvelo registered one goal and two assists. Thomas Espinoza, Hadziomanovic and Brown each scored once, goalies Ryan Wu and Gomez each made one save, and Lucas Lopreiato had one assist.
La Salle was previously shut out in a league game at St. Genevieve High in Panorama City, 1-0.
The Lancers, who are tied for second place with St. Anthony High of Long Beach in the standings, will host first-place St. Genevieve High on Friday, Jan. 27, at 5 p.m. La Salle (13-5-1 overall, 3-2-1 in league) will visit Verbum Dei on Monday, Jan. 30, before hosting St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy for their regular-season finale on Wednesday, Feb. 1.
ST. FRANCIS
The Golden Knights suffered consecutive 1-0 losses to Mission League opponents last week, falling at rival Loyola High in Los Angeles and against visiting Harvard-Westlake of Studio City.
SFHS recently edged host Notre Dame High in Sherman Oaks, 3-2, in a league game. Senior Nick Ferry, junior Michael McCarthy and sophomore Alex Hartley each scored once, and seniors Giovanni Nieves and Colin Gibbs were each credited with an assist. Meanwhile, sophomore Tim Murphy and freshman Rome Strongin each posted three saves.
St. Francis was edged at Crespi High in Encino, 1-0, in a league game last Wednesday as Strongin recorded five saves.
The Golden Knights previously lost a league matchup at Chaminade High in West Hills, 3-2. Giovanni Nieves and Quinnten Guzman each tallied one goal while Murphy and Strongin each finished with three saves.
SFHS (5-10-1 overall, 3-6 in league) will conclude the regular season with three consecutive home matchups beginning with second-place Chaminade High of West Hills on Friday, Jan. 27, at 5 p.m. The Golden Knights will host Crespi High of Encino on Monday, Jan. 30, followed by the regular-season finale against Notre Dame High of Sherman Oaks on Wednesday, Feb. 1.
