NORTH KITSAP – Two people were hospitalized with serious injuries after their vehicle crashed over a cliff in Port Gamble late Saturday night.

The driver of the vehicle, a 23-year-old Kirkland woman, was flown to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, a memo from the Washington State Patrol said, which noted that she was suspected of driving under the influence. The passenger, a 24-year-old Bothell man, was taken to St. Michael Medical Center.

Injuries to both were described as serious by the Poulsbo Fire Department. Updated patient conditions were not immediately known Monday.

The vehicle had been traveling east on Highway 104 in Port Gamble when it failed to negotiate the highway's 90-degree, right-hand turn and left the roadway, according to the memo, which said that the vehicle went off a 108-foot cliff and came to rest on the shoreline below.

Emergency crews were dispatched to the scene at about 11:50 p.m. Crews reached the vehicle from the old mill landing site, Poulsbo Fire Department Battalion Chief Chris Rahl said.
