Notre Dame Women's Basketball Falls To No. 10 In AP Poll
Notre Dame women’s basketball is down one spot No. 10 in this week’s Associated Press basketball poll. The Fighting Irish (18-4, 9-3 ACC) move down for the second consecutive week after Sunday’s loss to Duke. The Blue Devils (20-3, 10-2) are the biggest riser in this week’s poll. They move up seven spots and into the top 10 in the rankings this week after the 57-52 win over the Irish at Purcell Pavilion.
South Carolina (23-0) remains No. 1 for the 33rd consecutive week. Indiana (22-1) has ascended to No. 2 for the first time in program history. The Hoosiers have won 10 straight games since their lone loss to unranked Michigan State last month.
LSU (23-0) remains No. 3, with UConn (21-3) up one spot to No. 4 despite Sunday’s loss to South Carolina. Iowa (19-4) is also up one to No. 5. Stanford (22-3) tumbles four spots to No. 6 after a loss to Washington. Utah (20-2) and Maryland (19-5) hold at No. 7 and 8, respectively.
Other ranked ACC teams are No. 11 Virginia Tech (18-4), No. 14 North Carolina (17-6), which had an eight-game winning streak snapped by Louisville on Sunday, No. 19 Florida State (20-5), which moved up four spots after beating Duke last week, and No. 22 NC State (16-6), which fell seven spots after a loss to unranked Georgia Tech.
Notre Dame’s four losses this season are to No. 8 Maryland, No. 9 Duke, No. 14 North Carolina, and No. 22 NC State. The Irish have wins over No. 4 UConn, No. 11 Virginia Tech and No. 19 Florida State.
