The Florida Legislature is set to begin its special session Monday.
One of the main topics of discussion will be the Reedy Creek Improvement District, a special taxing district currently controlled by Disney World that manages land use and wastewater services. The RCID will soon come under state control after being voted to dissolve last year, as Disney publicly opposed a law that restricts instruction about gender identity and sexual orientation in schools.

Another issue is providing additional aid to the victims of hurricanes Ian and Nicole. Lawmakers are proposing to add $650 million to the emergency response and preparedness fund created last year, allowing the governor to distribute funds in times of emergency.
A representative out of Stuart is also proposing new legislation creating the Unauthorized Alien Transport Program within the Division of Emergency Management. According to memos, the program would transport unauthorized migrants who have been processed by the federal government and released into the United States.
