PARSONS, W.Va. — A Tucker County juvenile is in custody and faces charges after he allegedly threatened a school shooting.
Law enforcement was called to Tucker County High School Monday morning after school officials were notified of a potential threat.
“…the juvenile was taken into custody following several threats made in a group chat where he threatened to conduct a school shooting. It is not apparent that any other individuals were in concert with the juvenile that was taken into custody. An emergency detention hearing was held for the juvenile. ” said Tucker County Superintendent Alicia Lambert in a prepared statement.
Lambert said students at the school were placed in lockdown as a precaution and the student in question was arrested at his home. Once the situation was determined to be safe, the lockdown was lifted.
According to Lambert none of the students was ever in danger and all of the actions by the school were precautionary.
