The Cleveland Browns are one of the most woebegone franchises in sports.

Browns All-NFL defensive end Myles Garrett was a bright spot in the team’s 7-10 season, which earned the franchise another last-place finish in the AFC North.

“Browns star DE Myles Garrett is believed to have suffered a dislocated toe while competing in today’s Pro Bowl Games, per source. X-rays came back negative. Garrett limped off the field in Las Vegas,” Tom Pelissero reported.

Fans were quick to blame the NFL’s new Pro Bowl format for the injury.

Pro Football Talk, while reporting on the injury, noted that Given that while, “the season doesn’t start for seven months, there wouldn’t appear to be any reason for long-term concerns about Garrett. But his injury is a reminder that any time athletes are on a field running around, whether in a tackle football game, a flag football game or one of the other Pro Bowl festivities, injuries are possible.”

Garrett started his football career at James Martin High School in Arlington, Texas, where he developed into a five-star prospect. Garrett played collegiately with the Texas A&M Aggies, where he earned unanimous All-American honors. The Browns selected him with the first overall pick of the 2017 NFL Draft.
