A man who was shot multiple times by a Missoula homeowner during a burglary has died, according to a press release sent out by the Missoula Police Department.
Officers responded Sunday afternoon to a burglary in progress on the 300 block of Brooks Street.
A homeowner encountered a man trying to enter his residence and gave him multiple warnings to stop, according to Missoula police.
The homeowner shot the male several times.
Once officers arrived on scene they performed life saving measures on the man.
The man was transported by ambulance to a local hospital where he later died.

The homeowner encountered a male attempting to enter the residence. The homeowner provided multiple warnings for the male to stop. The male continued to enter the residence, breaking though the outer screen door. The homeowner shot the male multiple times. Officers arrived on scene and provided life saving measures. Once medical arrived on scene, the male was transported to a local hospital where he later passed.
The coroner will be able to provide details, once applicable to be released, on males identity and autopsy report.
