If you see smoke and FIRE (yes, actual FIRE) at the Orlando International Airport, don’t panic!
We’ve shared all kinds of updates about the airport recently, including how one change could make your next trip less stressful, 2 new things that could be arriving there in the future, and new non-stop routes that have been added there. But now we’ve got another important update!
According to a Twitter post from Orlando International Airport, “[l]ive fire training exercises will be conducted at our MCO ARFF Training Facility” starting February 6th through February 11th.
The airport warns that some “[f]ire and smoke may be visible from surrounding areas during this exercise.” But, this is only a drill and they note that the drill will NOT impact airport operations.
So if you see fire and smoke in the area, try not to worry too much. Know that likely it is due to some of the training exercises. Of course, emergency situations can happen, so if an emergency ever does occur, ask airport security and staff for assistance or details on anything you’re unsure of.
