'24 SF Jalen Shelley Offered by Louisville

The Texas wing is a top-25 prospect in the Class of 2024.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - With 2023 high school recruiting cycle nearing its close, head coach Kenny Payne and the Louisville men's basketball program are continuing to identify potential long term targets in the Class of 2024,

One such target is Frisco (Tex.) Prestonwood Christian small forward Jalen Shelley, who announced Sunday night that he had been offered a scholarship to play for the Cardinals.

Shelley has already generated a decent amount of high-major interest, currently holding 14 Division I scholarship offers. This includes Alabama, Houston, Iowa, Kansas State, LSU, Tennessee, Texas and others. He ranks as high as the No. 9 small forward in the class and the No. 23 prospect in the nation according to On3's in-house rankings.

The 6-foot-7, 175-pound guard/wing averaged 12.0 points and 4.6 rebounds per game during his sophomore campaign while with Frisco (Tex.) Lone Star. He opted to transfer to Prestonwood Christian over the summer, and had standout performances over the offseason at both the Nike Peach Jam in North Augusta, S.C. and the  Tarkanian Classic in Las Vegas, Nev.

In his first 10 months on the job, Payne has been relatively selective in who he chooses to give a scholarship offer to, but has started to dish out more 2024 offers over the last few weeks. Currently, nine uncommitted prospects in the cycle have received a Louisville offer so far, and the Cardinals' lone commitment in the class is from Montclair (N.J.) Immaculate Conception point guard T.J. Robinson.
