This post features solutions we need to execute when we see the Server Queue screen in Call of Duty. COD is an all-time classic game. However, it is plagued with numerous errors, including the server queue error. The server and Internet connection has a hand in all this fiasco. Keep reading this post to learn how we can fix it. Following is the error message that we see when facing a server queue issue:
SERVER QUEUE
Servers are experiencing high volume. You have been entered into the queue and will be placed into a game shortly.
Why is COD saying Server Queue?
You will be stuck on the Server Queue screen in COD when the client cannot get a response from the server. This can be because the Internet connection is slow or the game’s server is down. The latter can not be solved by us; however, the former can be rectified by taking appropriate measures and fixing every possible cause.

If Call of Duty is stuck on the Server Queue screen, execute the solutions prescribed below:
- Check COD’s server status
- Restart the game and the PC
- Switch to a different region
- Check the Internet connection: ethernet connection instead of wifi
- Run network troubleshooter
- Switch to public DNS

1] Check COD’s server status
Before engaging in a complex troubleshooting guide, start the process by checking the game’s server status because server-related issues could happen when servers are down.
To do that we can go to activision.com/onlineservices or use a free down detector and check whether the game is currently experiencing server issues or not. If there are traces of a server problem, the issue is entirely beyond our control and we’ll have to wait for the game developers to acknowledge the problem, fix it, and get the server back online.
2] Restart the game and device
Restarting the device solves many issues as this flushes out any temporary error that might be occurring due to cookies and caches. This also closes all the potential applications capable of conflicting with the game. Therefore, to fix the server queue in modern warfare, go ahead, log out of Steam and then restart the game and console (unplug and replug the cables) as well as whichever platform you are playing the game on, and see if the issue is resolved.
3] Switch to a different region
Call of Duty can also get stuck on the server queue screen when there’s heavy usage of a specific game server. Therefore in such cases, shifting to a different region from the current one is the best bet. Follow the steps prescribed below to do the same:
- First, launch the Battle.net desktop client.
- Now, go to the GAMES section and select Call of Duty: BOCW (or other version).
- Next, from the VERSION / REGION section, tap on the Earth icon and then choose a distinct region.
After this, relaunch COD and try playing the game to see if the problem is now fixed
4] Check the Internet connection
COD is one of the games that demand high Internet speed for proper functioning and if it is the opposite and it does not get that, there are going to be issues connecting to the server. In such cases, we will use Internet speed testers to see the Internet connection speed and then restart the router if it shows low speed.
We also recommend using an Ethernet connection instead of Wifi because it provides a more stable connection. Another way to ensure better Internet is by halting the download hogging the bandwidth.

5] Run Network troubleshooter
There are a lot of troubleshooters that can generally resolve happenings on the PC in Windows, and in this solution, we are going to run the Network Adapter troubleshooter. It is a Windows built-in troubleshooter that detects and narrows down network configuration issues.
To run the Network adapter troubleshooter, follow these steps.
Click Win+R to open the Run box and execute the following command:
msdt.exe /id NetworkDiagnosticsNetworkAdapter
Finally, follow the on-screen instructions to run the troubleshooter and resolve the issue.
6] Switch to public DNS
There is a high possibility that the Internet issue is due to the default DNS server; hence switching to a reliable public DNS server may resolve the issue. When we talk about recommended DNS servers, Google comes first; therefore, we use the same. If you are on a PC, change to Google DNS Server from Control Panel. Follow the on-screen instruction to change the DNS of the console.
Change DNS on PS4
- Open Settings of your console.
- Go to Network and select Set up your Internet Connection.
- Select Manual to change your DNS.
- Set either Google or Open DNS
Change DNS on Xbox
- Press the Xbox logo and go to its Settings.
- Go to Network > Network Settings > Advanced Settings.
- Select Open DNS > Manual.
- Set the DNS of your choice.
