Death in Paradise spin-off Beyond Paradise is coming to our screens in just a few weeks.

BBC One has confirmed the release date for the Kris Marshall-led series is Friday, February 24, when it will also become available on BBC iPlayer.

Marshall returns as DI Humphrey Goodman following his stint on Death in Paradise between seasons three and six. The new series will see the character leaving London behind to relocate to the picturesque Shipton Abbott, his fiancée Martha Lloyd's (Sally Bretton) hometown in Devon.

There, Martha pursues her dream to run her own restaurant while Humphrey joins the local police, getting to know an interesting cast of characters and having to deal with some truly bizarre cases.

A new first-look image introduces some of the new key players: alongside Marshall and Bretton, Beyond Paradise stars Derry Girls' Dylan Llewellyn as PC Kelby Hartford, Zahra Ahmadi as DS Esther Williams and Felicity Montagu as office support Margo Martins. Barbara Flynn also features as Martha's mum Anne Lloyd.

According to the official synopsis, Humprhey's Saint Marie days may be over but this doesn't mean he'll have an easy time solving murders in Devon.

Related: Why Death in Paradise was right to turn the focus away from Ralf Little's Neville (for a while)

"The not-so-sleepy town of Shipton Abbott will be rocked by an entire family disappearing without a trace, a woman claiming she was attacked by a suspect from the seventeenth century, the robbery of a highly prized painting, a body bizarrely discovered in a crop circle and a serial arsonist with a seeming distaste for local businesses," the summary teases.

"As Humphrey gets stuck into his new job, he and Martha must also navigate life's ups and downs, as faces from the past, the decisions they make and challenges of setting up life in a new town put their relationship to the ultimate test."

Beyond Paradise debuts on February 24 on BBC One and iPlayer. Death in Paradise series 12 airs on Friday nights on BBC One and streams on BBC iPlayer.
