A 66-year-old Elyria woman is behind bars on charges she shot her husband early Feb. 6 at their home, according to a news release.
Cheryl L. Johnson was charged with attempted murder, felonious assault and domestic violence.
Johnson was transported to the Lorain County Sheriff’s Office pending her initial hearing at 9 a.m., Feb. 7, in Elyria Municipal Court, according to the release.
At 6:35 am, Elyria police officers responded to the 500 block of West River Road North after receiving a 911 call that a man was shot.
Upon arrival, officers found a 73-year-old man with a gunshot wound.
He was transported to University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center and later transported to MetroHealth in Cleveland.
The Elyria Police Department is investigating.
