Agnes Burney Ellis, age 92, of Clarksville, TN passed away on Friday, February 3, 2023, at Morning Pointe Assisted Living in Tullahoma, TN where she had served as Resident Ambassador for several years.

Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, February 6, 2023, at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home with her nephew Bro. Phillip Chambers officiating. She will be laid to rest beside her husband in Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the hour of service at the funeral home.

Agnes entered this life on December 10, 1930, in Cedar Hill, Robertson County to the late Homer and Zelma Barnes Burney. Agnes graduated in 1949 from Cedar Hill High School and later from Nashville Business College. In her later years, she received her B.S. and M.A. degree from Austin Peay State University and her Ed.S. from Peabody College. She taught school at Northeast High School, Clarksville High, Austin Peay State University, and Clarksville Academy. Before teaching she had worked at Royal Typewriter Company in Nashville and served as Office Manager of Montgomery County ASC office as well as dorm mother of APSU. She was a member of Marion Methodist Church. Agnes enjoyed bird watching and reading in her free time.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Dr. William “Bill” Ellis.

Survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Ellis Reimers and her husband, Dan of Tullahoma; granddaughters, Emily and Olivia Reimers; sister, Nancy Burney Chambers of the Shiloh Community.

Pallbearers will be Dan Reimers, Brandon Chambers, Tony Bowling, Danny Fewless, Robert Hodges, Brett Burchwell, Knox Chambers.

The family would like to thank everyone at Morning Pointe of Tullahoma and Compassus Hospice for their excellent care in the last few years.
