Bills were the NFL's 10th-oldest team in 2022

Part of the reason the Buffalo Bills have concerns with their salary cap is because of age.

Players such as quarterback Josh Allen, linebacker Tremaine Edmunds and cornerback Tre’Davious White were once the youngsters. They’re all still blue chip pieces to build a franchise around, but you’ve got to pay them.

In addition, the Bills have not avoided adding veterans–Especially over the past year. Last spring, pass rusher Von Miller (33), quarterback Case Keenum (34) and offensive lineman Rodger Saffold (34) were all added to the roster.

And how about mid-season signings of receivers Cole Beasley (33) and John Brown (32)?

All in all, Buffalo is not a young man’s team anymore. ESPN has the exact answer to the question.

Based on snaps played in 2022, the Bills were the 10th-oldest team in the NFL:

While the Bills do have a roster on the older half of the league, there are still some silver linings. First, the average age of teams has a big number of them at 27.2, six in total, right behind Buffalo.

The Bills are not far off from being right at the NFL average.

Plus, there’s a chance that multiple older players mentioned above won’t be around next season. All but Miller are pending free agents.

The team and general manager Brandon Beane will have to address salary cap concerns, but it’s not all bad–or old.
