Report: Woman arrested for firing a shot at Popeyes worker following an argument

The woman was booked with aggravated battery and possession of a firearm or weapon by a felon.

NEW ORLEANS — A woman has been arrested after allegedly firing a shot at a Popeyes worker following an argument.

The shooting happened Thursday at the Popeyes in the 1200 block of St. Charles Avenue.

As The Times-Picayune reports, Jean Netter, 50, was arrested Friday in connection with that shooting.

She was booked with aggravated battery and possession of a firearm or weapon by a felon.

Cell phone video taken by a customer inside showed Netter allegedly arguing with a Popeyes worker then she is told to leave. When she walks out she allegedly retrieved a gun from her vehicle and then fired a shot through the window of the Popeyes, striking the worker in the leg.

The cell phone video was given to investigators who recognized Netter from a previous case where she was convicted of a felony and is now prohibited from possessing a gun.

On Saturday a Magistrate Commissioner set her bond at $125,000.
