New hires

Legacy Properties Sotheby’s International Realty, a luxury real estate company in Portland, hired Charlie Richardson as a real estate agent in Damariscotta.

New England Cancer Specialists in Scarborough hired Dan Rausch as an oncologist.

S&B Financial Services in Saco hired Sandy Bailey as a senior financial advisor. Bailey was previously an independent financial consultant for Cetera Investment Services.

Gov. Janet Mills hired Ryan Fecteau as senior advisor for community development and strategic initiatives in the Governor’s Office of Policy Innovation and the Future and Elizabeth Gattine as coordinator of the Governor’s Cabinet on Aging. Fecteau was Speaker of the Maine of House of Representatives while Gattine was a senior policy associate specializing in disability and aging issues at the Catherine Cutler Institute, part of the Muskie School of Public Service at the University of Southern Maine.

The city of Bath hired Jennifer Curtis as director of planning and Courtney McDonald as marketing and communications specialist. Curtis was previously director of planning and development at the town of Bowdoinham while McDonald was a small business owner.

Trekkers Training Institute in Rockland hired Diane Sternberg as training director.

Northern Light Mercy Hospital hired Caitlin Sloan as a midwife at Northern Light Mercy Midwives in Portland. Previously, Sloan was a full-scope nurse-midwife for Central Maine Medical Center and St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center in Lewiston.

Maine Street Solutions in Augusta hired Peter Gore as a senior government relations specialist. Gore was previously executive vice president for advocacy and government relations with the Maine State Chamber of Commerce.

The Maine Connectivity Authority in Portland hired Chris Boniakowski as director of broadband infrastructure. Boniakowski was most recently as executive director for wireless solutions for Zenfi Networks in New York.

Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington hired Nicholas Perros as a hospitalist. Perros was previously a hospitalist at Maine Medical Center.

Promotions

UScellular promoted TJ Caldwell to store manager in Bangor. Caldwell was previously store manager in Farmington.

The Maine State Society for the Protection of Animals in Windham promoted Kathy Woodbrey to executive director.

Pouliot Real Estate in Augusta promoted Matthew Pouliot to CEO, Heather Pouliot to president and marketing director and Jessica O’Halloran Smart to sales director.

OceanView at Falmouth, a retirement community in Falmouth, promoted Shireen Shahawy to director of sales and marketing and Gloria Walker to sales consultant at Cumberland Crossing, a 55+ sustainable living community in Cumberland. Shahawy was assistant director of sales and marketing while Walker was director of sales and marketing.

Pierce Atwood, a law firm in Portland, promoted Ilan Barzilay to chair of the firm’s patent practice group and Gavin McCarthy to chair of its litigation practice group.

Geiger, a promotional products distributor in Lewiston, promoted Robert Wozniak to CFO. Wozniak was previously vice president of finance, M&A and FP&A.

Spinnaker Trust in Portland promoted Drew Oestreicher to principal. Oestreicher was senior vice president and senior client advisor.

Appointments

Northern Light CA Dean Hospital added Mary Fowle, Mike Roy and Genise Stern to its board of trustees. Fowle is a retired certified pharmacy technician, Roy is town manager in Greenville and Stern manages housekeeping and laundry services at the Blair Hill Inn. In addition, Northern Light Mayo Hospital added Jim Fowle, a retired accounting professional, to its board of trustees.

The Maine Arts Commission in Augusta appointed David Greenham to a five-year term as executive director. Greenham has worked as interim executive director of the state arts agency since January 2021.

Carmen McPhail was named president of the Maine Association of REALTORS for 2023. McPhail is affiliated with United Country Lifestyle Properties of Maine in Lincoln.

Meesha Luce, a personal insurance account executive at Allen Insurance and Financial in Camden, was named the 2023 chairwoman of the Maine Insurance Agents Association’s Young Agents Committee.

Nirav Shah, director of the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention, was appointed principal deputy director at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Shah will assume the new role, second in leadership under U.S. CDC Director Rochelle Walensky, in March.

Achievements

Shawn Moody, founder of Moody’s Collision Center in Gorham, captured the “2022 Freedom and Opportunity Award” from the Maine Policy Institute as well as the “2022 Excellence Award in Workforce Partnership” from MEMIC.

The Maine Justice Foundation named Barbara Cardone, director of legal affairs and public relations at the Maine Judicial Branch, as its “Howard H. Dana Jr. Award” winner. The award is presented annually to a Maine lawyer to recognize significant contributions to enhance access to civil legal assistance to economically vulnerable Mainers and outstanding service in the advancement of the foundation’s mission.

Cianbro, a construction company in Pittsfield, said its P-310 Dry Dock Super Flood Basin project earned “ENR New England’s Best Airport/Transit project,” was a finalist for “ENR’s Project of the Year,” won an “Eagle Award” from the Massachusetts Chapter of Associated Builders and Contractors and an “Excellence in Construction Award” from Associated Builders and Contractors of Connecticut.

The MEMIC Group in Portland named Wyman’s as its “2022 MEMIC Award for Safety Excellence” recipient.

RE/MAX Shoreline in Portland announced that its founders, Derrick Buckspan and Rachel Reed, were selected as inaugural members of RE/MAX LLC’s newly formed “President’s Circle” based on the growth and leadership they have demonstrated in their agency and the real estate community.

Golden Pond Wealth Management in Waterville said that Alexis Bowman completed the requirements for her Series 7 investment securities license. Bowman is a relationship manager with the firm.

GHM Agency of Waterville said that Laura Rowe was awarded a certificate of achievement by the Society of Certified Insurance Counselors recognizing five years of maintaining the Certified Insurance Counselor designation. Rowe is a commercial lines account manager with the agency.

Champion the Cure Challenge named its 2023 honorees including Carrie Meo, honorary chair; Kerry Jordan (posthumously), “Terry Fox Award;” Joanie Whitsel, “Employee Champion;” Season’s Restaurant, “Corporate Champion;” Jess Francis, “Volunteer of the Year;” and Mimi’s Softball Tournament, “Community Champion.”
