Get ready to become inspired but on young Mainer who did something remarkable and very very cold.

According to WGME, 8-Year-Old Ava Doughty was attending her 3rd grade class as she was visited by the Windham Clothes Closet and Food Pantry.

After this visit, she decided she needed to do something to help food insecure folks and those in need of clothing for the winter.

She thought about what she could do and came up with a polar plunge saying,

Well I think I can basically do anything I put my mind to.

Ava took action and with her brother and some schoolmates by her side, she took the plunge into the icy cold water at Sebago Lake.

Because of this ice plunge, she ended up raising over $2,000 dollars for the Windham Clothes Closet and Food Pantry.

She made tons of flyers and you can still donate through Venmo, @Sara-Doughty-3.

Normally you feel badly for things and want to do something but life gets in the way and you don't. Ava is someone who was determined to help others eat and stay warm this terrible winter. Because of the love in her art and gratitude she solely has helped so many people in Maine. We can all learn a lot from Ava and her ability to give.
