Stamford officials pass resolution calling on state to make bus travel free
Stamford officials unanimously passed a resolution to join cities pushing for free CT Transit bus fares. The fares, along with the state's gas tax, were suspended in April of last year but are expected to return to normal.

14ds agoThe Stamford Board of Representatives unanimously voted to pass a resolution overnight calling on state lawmakers to permanently eliminate CT Transit bus fares.
CT Transit bus fares, along with the state's gas tax, were suspended in April of last year in response to inflation.
The gas tax is currently being phased back in, but bus fares will continue to be suspended until April 1.
Stamford joined Hartford and New Haven in calling on Gov. Lamont and state lawmakers to permanently suspend CT Transit bus fares.
Gov. Lamont has previously stated one year is the maximum bus fares can be suspended in the state because of federal restrictions.
The topic of CT Transit bus fares was one of several items on the agenda during the Stamford Board of Representatives meeting Monday night.
The resolution passed around midnight within a few minutes after first being discussed.
