Neighbors protest new Yonkers Chick-Fil-A location over traffic worries
Fast-food restaurant Chick-fil-A is coming to Yonkers - but not everyone is happy about it, and one group protested about it today.
Last month, the Yonkers Planning Board gave its approval for Chick-Fil-A to open its first Westchester restaurant at Central Park Avenue and Roxbury Drive, where an HSBC bank used to be.
While a lot of people are happy about Chick-Fil-A finally coming to Westchester, the people who live in the area aren't exactly thrilled about it.
Representatives from the fast-food chain are scheduled to appear before the board later this week, as many residents are making one last-ditch effort by holding a protest to try to get board members to change their minds and pick a different spot for the restaurant.
They say the problem is the traffic and extremely long lines for the drive-thru that often seem to come with Chick-Fil-A. It's been a problem in other states across the country. In some cases, police intervention was needed, and lawsuits have even been filed due to traffic problems.
The restaurant will have dine-in, drive-thru and carryout service. Chick-Fil- A is open every day except Sunday.
