One of the items on the Knoxville Parks and Recreation list are needs at the recreation center. According to Brandon Nemmers, Parks and Recreation Director there are several items.

At the last Knoxville City Council meeting it was proposed for the Knoxville Recreation Center with a three phase option for that facility. Option one is with a cost of $2.4 million, option 2 is another $3.6 million and option three another roughly $1.3 million.

Nemmers tells KNIA/KRLS News, “One thing we do lack is a fitness studio. It would be nice to have an open gym space. Quite often you get a fitness class on one side and an open gym on the other. It gets very packed very quickly. A fitness studio would open that up.”

Another need asked for in the budget proposal was a family changing room with a direct access to the pool. Renovation includes additions to the weight room and cardio room are other items up for discussion according to Nemmers.
