FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – The building that houses six apartments and a record store on South Calhoun Street is condemned after a fire Sunday night.

The fire started around 10:45 p.m. at 1836 South Calhoun, near the intersection with West Masterson Avenue. When fire crews arrived, flames were coming from a second floor apartment.

Two occupants were able to get out safely on their own. Firefighters found and rescued a third. No one was hurt.

It took less than 40 minutes to get the fire under control. Six apartments on the second floor were involved. One has heavy fire damage and the other five have smoke damage.

Neat Neat Neat Records said in a social media post Monday the store was temporarily closed due to water damage. On Tuesday, there was a sign on the record store’s door saying the building was condemned.

The music store told WANE 15 on Facebook Tuesday that most of the damage happened to storage areas away from the main sales floor, which mostly impacted items related to online sales and unprocessed used CDs and vinyl.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
