Baltimore-based artist Lil 2 Dow recently dropped his latest album, 21 Gun Salute, with features from New York’s A$AP Mob– including A$AP Ant & A$AP Twelvyy. The rapper has since released a visual on the Marino Infantry YouTube channel, a creative collective featuring him on previous projects like Enter The Infantry (2019), Enter The Infantry Vol. 2 (2021), and Infantry Warz (2021).

The cover art by @DeadMonBernz amplifies the message of 21 Gun Salute and subtly pays homage to Tupac, a personal inspiration to Lil 2 Dow. “The music industry is war, and this album is dedicated to the fallen soldiers”, Lil 2 Dow explained.

A$AP Yams, Suge Knight, and Birdman also served as inspirations for the album which combines lo-fi vibes with classic hip-hop and rap elements, including the Marino gang’s signature piano-integrated beats and skits. “It’s a celebration every time we link up and we had a blast making this album,” said Lil 2 Dow. He continued on to explain “Me and Addie (A$AP Ant) been making music together a long time now, but ‘The Ankle Lock’ is me and Twelvyy’s first track together”.

21 Gun Salute was recorded at Zeke Mishanec’s Bogart Sound (Brooklyn) in just four days and mixed and mastered at Jungle City (Manhattan). “The biggest challenge was formulating,” Lil 2 Dow revealed, “I gotta always make sure my music ‘ride’ the way it supposed to”.

Lil 2 Dow’s 2Dow fan troop can expect 21 Gun Salute merchandise, dropping soon.
