NEW YORK — The NBA trade deadline is approaching quickly on Thursday at 3 p.m. EST, and teams are deciding how they are going to improve their chances down the stretch.

The Philadelphia 76ers are one of those teams expected to be active before the buzzer sounds on Thursday on any deals. Plenty of names have popped up, but one that continues to arise is Furkan Korkmaz.

Korkmaz has played only 25 games in the 2022-23 season and is averaging 10.2 minutes per game. He has been pushed out of the rotation, leading to his name floating around the trade deadline talk.

“I think, as an NBA player, we are all used to it,” said Korkmaz. “Names are floating around, a lot of names coming up. From my perspective, I just try and stay ready, keep doing my thing, keep practicing, and then at the end of the day, whatever happens, whatever the decision, I’ll just be happy to be on the court. That’s all I can say because I wanna be on the court. I am looking forward to seeing what’s gonna happen.”

Korkmaz has spent the entirety of his six seasons in Philadelphia, and he has been an integral part of the team’s rotation in the past. However, he hasn’t gotten much of an opportunity in the 2022-23 season. He’s shooting 41% from the floor and 34.3% from deep in his limited time.

When asked if he wants to go where he can earn more playing time, Korkmaz answered with an understandable response as a competitor.

“There is no straight answer to this question, but at the end of the day, I want to be on the court,” he finished. “You are getting the message.”
