Throughout 2022, Ezra made headlines after a string of arrests, accusations of grooming, and allegations of abuse in various countries. In August, they released a statement saying that they were seeking treatment for “complex health issues” after having “gone through a time of intense crisis" and apologized for those they had "alarmed and upset." But, controversy surrounding the actor is far from gone — they pleaded guilty to unlawful trespassing just two weeks ago.

Ezra's first solo movie as the DC superhero, The Flash , is still slated to be released on June 16. Regardless of their recent spate of bad publicity, DC Studios co-head James Gunn said that the movie was "probably one of the greatest superhero movies ever made" earlier this week.

Kiersey will be reprising her role as Iris West, who was set up in Zack Snyder's Justice League as Barry Allen's (aka The Flash) love interest. Subsequently, the Hollywood Reporter asked her about her experience shooting The Flash at the premiere of her movie Somebody I Used to Know.

"I had a great time. I’ve known Ezra for years, and I loved working with Andy [Muschietti, director]. Despite everything, we had a really great time filming, and we did make a really great movie."

"I hope that despite [all the headlines], people really enjoy the movie because what James said is true. I believe what he said, and I think it’s absolutely correct," they continued.

Kiersey further said that it was "absolutely" tough to read the headlines about Ezra, adding, "what people forget is that a lot of people go through that, but they don’t do it with the whole world watching. Although it comes with the territory, it’s really unfair and has been hard watching that.”

Although Ezra's future as The Flash seemed incredibly uncertain at times, it appears the studio are still open to working with them. After all, DC co-head Peter Safran said earlier this week , "We are fully supportive of that journey that they’re on right now. When the time is right, when they feel like they’re ready to have the discussion, we’ll all figure out what the best path forward is. But right now, they are completely focused on their recovery. And in our conversations with them over the last couple of months, it feels like they’re making enormous progress.”
