ROUND ROCK, Texas - All Round Rock ISD schools, except for one, are set to reopen and resume classes this week following the recent ice storm that hit Central Texas. All the district's offices will also reopen.
Round Rock ISD says that the power outage at Forest North Elementary School is still ongoing and Austin Energy has indicated that it will not be restored in time for classes to resume Monday morning. As a result, classes are canceled and Forest North will be closed.
"The decision to close was made to ensure the safety of students and staff at Forest North. We are continuing to work with Austin Energy to restore power so campus operations may hopefully resume on Tuesday, Feb. 7," the district said on social media.
The district plans to offer curbside meal service at the campus from 8-10 a.m. for students to pick up a cold breakfast and lunch during that time. Parents and guardians must have their child’s ID number available to share upon arrival.
Information on campus operations for Tuesday, Feb. 7 will be shared tomorrow, says Round Rock ISD.

All other campuses are fully operational and are ready to resume teaching and learning. The district noted the efforts of its technology, custodial, maintenance, food services and operations teams and everyone else who worked to prepare campuses to safely reopen. Teams are also expected to continue this week removing debris and fallen tree limbs caused by last week’s inclement weather.
Round Rock ISD says if students or staff are still unable to return due to issues from the ice storm, they should contact their campus or supervisor.
