When trades go down in professional sports, things move quickly. Sometimes so quickly that players involved find out the news with the rest of the world.

The Athletic's Shams Charania remains the most plugged-in person in the NBA -- even more than the players.

After the Mavericks traded Spencer Dinwiddie and Dorian Finney-Smith to the Nets to land superstar Kyrie Irving, it was Charania -- not the Mavericks themselves -- who informed Dinwiddie of the deal.

Dinwiddie was a good sport about it after finding out.

Unfortunately for him, his bags weren't packed for Brooklyn yet.

Elijah is Dinwiddie's son, and it appears he's happy about the arrangement.

Dinwiddie also gave love to Mavericks fans.

Dinwiddie is a consistently fun Twitter follow, and this reaction is no exception. Clearly there are no hard feelings from the guard.

Dinwiddie is averaging 17.7 PPG this season in just under 35 minutes per game, which the Nets will undoubtedly benefit from down the stretch. He was part of the Nets' young core from 2017-2020 before the Nets went all-in for Irving and Kevin Durant.

If it is bittersweet moving to New York from Texas in February, Dinwiddie isn't betraying his hand.
