The Golden State Warriors have been a powerhouse in the NBA over the last decade in large part due to the excellence of star point guard Steph Curry. This makes the news that they received on Sunday about Curry particularly devastating.

Curry left Saturday’s matchup against the Dallas Mavericks after Dallas point guard McKinley Wright IV bumped into Curry’s left knee. He walked off on his own power but did miss the remainder of the game after the incident in the third quarter.

We now know the severity of the injury, and it is not a good update for the Warriors. According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, Curry is expected to miss multiple weeks with a left leg injury.

This will be the second time this season that Curry will miss significant time due to injury. He missed 11 combined games in December and January due to a left shoulder subluxation .

Curry will also almost certainly miss the upcoming All-Star game taking place on February 19th, which he had previously been named a starter in.

The Warriors currently sit at just 27-26 on the year, sitting in the seventh seed in the Western Conference. This injury to Curry certainly will not help things, which many around the NBA world pointed out.

It certainly can not be understated just how important Steph Curry has been for the Warriors’ success over the years. The two-time MVP winner is currently averaging 29.4 points per game along with 6.3 rebounds and 6.4 assists per game.
