A Stratford family is thanking the community after their furnace was fixed this weekend.
Leighann and Greg Rose's furnace had been broken for over a month and the temperature in their home was 50 degrees.
Greg Rose lost his job in October. The couple, along with their two children with special needs, were forced to bundle up to keep warm and use an electric fireplace.
The family says the cold caused their 8-year-old daughter Kayla pain because she has spina bifida and sensitive skin.
On Friday, the nonprofit Alliance for Community Empowerment reached out to Gabe Ramos of Ramos Fuel to help. He rushed to the home and turned their heat back on at no charge to the family.
"Situations like this, they make it all worth it, to see them happy and know that we're able to help,” said Ramos.
Dr. Monette Ferguson, Alliance's executive director, says she couldn't be happier to help.
"It makes me feel great," says Dr. Ferguson. "I mean, I am blessed to have a job that can touch families…and gives the gift of warmth when it shouldn't really be a gift."
The couple is grateful for all the help they received.
"It's a miracle that News 12 came out here and helped us -- and Alliance,” said Rose.
The family also thanks News 12 viewer Michale Moss, a local electrician who volunteered to fix the family's broken wiring for free after seeing our first report on Friday.
