Tony Gonsolin News: Dodgers Star Reveals What Purchase He's Planning On Making First With His New Contract

This week, Dodgers All-Star pitcher, Tony Gonsolin agreed on a two-year, $6.65 million contract to avoid arbitration both this year and next.

For technicality sake: these are his first two years of arbitration (out of four total, because he qualified a year early with Super Two status), so this is his first big payday, although he actually pulled in about $1.2 million last year between his salary and his share of the pre-arbitration bonus pool.

With the whopping new paycheck, the Dodgers starting pitcher has one thing in mind of what he's going to splurge his $7 million on.

After finalizing his contract with Los Angeles, he hopped on MLB Network and talked with former Dodgers reporter Alanna Rizzo about what his next steps are thanks to the newfound financial security:

"I've been looking into buying a house, so that'll probably be the first thing. Get settled in a location and have a good spot to be."

Although he grew up in Vacaville (NorCal), it's time for Gonsolin to really get settled into Los Angeles and that starts with getting a home. Especially now that he's guaranteed to spend at least the next two years here and hopefully a few more past the 2024 season.

The 28-year-old was a key piece of the Dodgers 2022 pitching staff as he posted a 16-1 record and 2.14 ERA before a fore-arm strain that ended his season six weeks early.

As long as he can stay healthy, the upcoming season is bound to be just as good, if not better for the right-handed pitcher and we're expected to see Cat Man back on the mound for the first time since August.

Living here in Los Angeles sure isn't cheap but hopefully Goose's new paycheck can help out with that.
