Man dies in fire in commercial building early Sunday morning

MEDFORD, Mass — A man has died after a fire broke out in a commercial building early Sunday morning.

At approximately 4:20 a.m., crews responded to reports of a fire in the area of Mystic Avenue.

Upon arrival, crews located the fire in a commercial building at 58 Swan St.

A second alarm was struck shortly after firefighters arrived, and teams from surrounding cities arrived to help fight the fire.

While working to put out the fire, a person arrived on the scene and told firefighters that an employee was inside the business sleeping, officials said.

Firefighters located a man inside a bathroom and began lifesaving measures.

The man was transported to Massachusetts General Hospital and died from his injuries. The Office of the Chief

The Medical Examiner is working to determine the cause of the man’s death, and his identity has not been released.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
