ABOUT CHATTANOOGA GOLF
CHATTANOOGA---The Chattanooga Mocs men's golf team looks to
build on a successful fall beginning the spring portion of the schedule this weekend at the Hayt Collegiate. The 2-day, 54-hole event is played at Sawgrass Country Club, the historic home of the PGA Tour's Tournament Players Championship.
The Mocs approach the season's turn with a lot of optimism. Two team wins and an individual one (
Paul Conroy) will do that for a squad. The initial lineup of 2023 includes Conroy,
Braedon Wear,
Samuel Espinosa,
Garrett Engle and
John Houk.
Play starts on the 10th tee Sunday morning for Mocs on a 36-hole day. The good guys start at 7:45 a.m., weather permitting, and are joined by UCF, Furman and a collection of individuals. Scoring and pairings are linked above when available.

Keep an eye on…
- The team score is 32 under for the campaign. No Mocs squad completed an under-par season. Closest was 9 over in 2007-08.
- 3 Mocs are par or better so far: Espinosa (-20), Conroy (-11) & John Houk (E). Only three such seasons in program history - Jonathan Hodge '09 (-9, 2007-08) & Jaeger (-1, 2010-11 & -22, '11-12).
- 20 rounds in the 60s by Mocs this season led by Espinosa with six. That's three more than last year's squad had all year.
- The low card in the Mocs last visit to Sawgrass Country Club was All-American Jonathan Hodge's 73 in the final round in 2009. The venerable course allowed just one card in the 60s (68-James Byrne, Arizona State) and only 25 of a possible 249 cards (10%) signed at par or better throughout the field.
