Trammell (hand) was placed on the 10-day injured list Thursday. According to Curtis Crabtree of FOX 13 Seattle, manager Scott Servais said Thursday that Trammell is 2-to-3 weeks away from starting a rehab assignment, putting the outfielder on track to return in late April. Trammell won't be guaranteed a spot on the MLB roster once healthy with the offseason additions of Teoscar Hernandez, AJ Pollock and Cooper Hummel providing plenty of depth in the outfield.

He made it into scoring position after swiping second base following a leadoff first-inning single, but the Mariners failed to bring him home. Rodriguez stole 25 bags in 132 games during his rookie campaign, and fantasy managers who drafted him with a high pick this spring will look for him to replicate or exceed that number in 2023.

Nootbaar will sit Saturday against the Blue Jays. Nootbaar received plenty of attention from fantasy drafters over the winter and followed that up by batting second and reaching base three times in the season opener. The Cardinals have a crowded outfield, however, and they'll give Alec Burleson the start in left field in the second game of the season. Exactly how often Nootbaar is in the lineup will go a long way toward determining his fantasy value this season, and it's not a good sign in that respect that he's on the bench already even with a righty (Kevin Gausman) on the mound for the opposition. It may take a week or two to get a clear sense of how often each Cardinal will find themselves in the lineup.
