Diana Avsaragova Scores Split Decision Over Alejandra Lara, Remains Undefeated – Bellator 290 Results (Highlights)

Diana Avsaragova earned her sixth straight win in a closely contested battle with Alejandra Lara at Bellator 290 on Saturday night

Undefeated flyweight Diana Avsaragova stepped into the cage as part of a packed Bellator 290 card on Saturday night. The Russian prospect looked to keep her ‘O’ intact against Colombian-born Alejandra Lara. Desperate for a win after dropping her last three fights inside the Bellator cage, Lara squared off with Avsaragova during the preliminary portion of the promotion’s event at the Kia Forum in Inglewood, Cali. 

Round 1

Diana Avsaragova comes out swinging, landing a solid right, but Lara responds with a left of her own. Avsaragova lands again with a right followed by a front kick, but Lara is able to close the distance and tease a takedown, but quickly lets Avsaragova go. Avsaragova steps in with another right. Lara lands another left. Lara goes low with a calf kick and quickly upstairs with a head kick. Lara throws another calf kick and eats a right from Avsaragova. Solid jab from Avsaragova connects as Lara attempts to respond, but her looping strikes are failing to hit the target. Lara pushes the pace in the final 10 seconds of the round and lands a stiff elbow at the bell sounds.

Round 2

Alejandra Lara comes out working a variety of kicks and switching her stance to give her opponent different looks. Avsaragova is content to sit back and counterstrike. Both fighters exchange strikes, but Avsaragova gets the better of the exchange as Lara is not moving her head off the center line. Lara eats another stiff right hand from Avsaragova. Push kick by Lara, followed by a jab. Avsaragova misses with the counter right. 1-2 by Avsaragova lands clean. Stiff jab by Lara, but Avsaragova circles away and avoids further danger. Lara is now bleeding from her nose and picks up the aggression, but fails to land. Lara steps in and lands a stiff left, but Avsaragova responds with a right. Looping right by Lara lands as the round comes to a close.

Round 3

Push kick by Alejandra Lara to open the round followed by an inside calf kick. Lara continues to be the aggressor as Avsaragova circles and works to counter. Another calf kick by Lara. Avsaragova responds with a calf kick of her own. Lara responds with a stinging left hand, followed by another left and then a right. Lopping right from Avsaragova misses the mark. Straight left by Lara lands. 1-2 by Lara that pops Avsaragova’s head back. Lara is beginning to find the range, but time is running out. Jab from Avsaragova stops Lara in her tracks. Avsaragova’s volume is significantly less as Lara lands a calf kick. Lara moves in getting Avsaragova in a half-Thai plum and lands a couple of solid knees before Avsaragova can break free. The round ends with Lara in hot pursuit and Avsaragova avoiding any potential danger.
